Wittmann's Last Ride Michael
Wittmann's last ride based on a Heng Long Tiger 1 sent in by Keith Betts of Wellingborough,
Northants. This tiger was knocked out at Gaumesnil at 12:40 on the 08th August
1944 by a Sherman Firefly from A Company the 1st Northants Yeomanry by a gunner
named Joe Ekins (a good friend of Keith's). His Sherman was knocked out later
in the afternoon. Joe was wounded and never enter a Sherman again

T-34/85 is allegedly the first tank to reach the Brandenburg Gate.Note improvished
"bedstead armour" on turret to stop Panzerfausts. Based on a WSN T-34/85,
note correct aerial, commander cupola upgrade parts to allow for tank commander
through open hatch and Hammer and Sickle Soviet Flag (all supplied by Tankzone). | |
The
Tiger 1 is the Company command vehicle for the 2nd Company 101st SS. This is the
tank Michesl Wittmann should have had at Villers-Bocage (if it hasn't refused
to start that morning!). Based on a Heng Long Tiger 1, note late commandre's cupola,
late roadwheels, metal tracks (all supplied by Tankzone) and scratch built
star antenna.
