The
perfect present for the child in every man! This
is a 1/24 scale fully painted and assembled replica of the US M1A2 Abrams Main
Battle Tank featuring radio-controlled of all movement including turret rotation
and gun elevation. Its rubber belt-type tracks can climb a 35 degree slope with
ease. |
| | This
Tank Actually Shoots! |
Don's
forget to buy some extra BB pellets! | This
tank actually shoots 6mm plastic BBs from a fully automatic firing system using
self-generated compressed air. These can hit a target up to 25m with good accuracy.
The tank can fire while on the move or stationary and can hold up to 40 BBs in
the turret. A box of pellets is included. |
Safety
Features |
Hidden switch under loader's
hatch, second firing button under control unit, safety plug |
|
For safety,
two buttons need to be pressed together to shoot. A red warning light flashes
when the tank is about to shoot. The firing mechanism can also be switch off by
a separate switch hidden under the hatch. A red rubber plug is also supplied for
the cannon when run in non-firing mode.

Precision
Control Via Dedicated Unit
The model comes with a
dedicated pistol-grip style control unit with its own on/off switch.
| The
two left buttons on top of each other rotates the turret left and right. There
is a similar arrangement on the right, the bottom button lowers or raises the
main cannon. (If this is kept pressed down, the cannon will continue to go up
and down until it's released. If you release the button and press again, it will
change the direction.) The top right button, painted red, is for firing the main
cannon. This must be pressed together with another red button underneath the main
panel to actually shoot pellets from the cannon. The safety switch on the tank
itself under the loading hatch must also be switched on. See section on safety
features. | | Three
Speed
The
central cluster of buttons is for movements of the tank. In the centre column,
it has three buttons marked 1,2 and 3 representing the three speeds going forward
with one marked 'Back' for going backward which is the same speed as the fastest
going forward. There are three button either side; two for forward turning slow
and fast (L1, L2, R1 and R2) and one for fast backward turning (LB and RB). The
left and right turns can be used together to effect pivot turn in place. After
a while, this arrangement becomes intuitive and good control can be maintained
over the tank even in confined spaces. Battle

Available
in black/brown/dark yellow or Desert Storm camouflage colours, the M1A2 all operate
on one of 6 channels in the 27MHz band. Up to six M1A2s can be run together at
the same time. The crystal in the battery compartment can be unplugged and a new
one put in. Tokyo
Marui also produces a model based on the Japan Self-Defense Force's Type 90 main
battle tank. Unfortunately, a M1A1 cannot be run together with a JSDF Type
90 also operating in the 27MHz band. However, the 40MHz band version of the
JSDF Type 90 is not affected and will run quite happily with up to six M1A2s.
If you wish to run a M1A2 alongside a Type 90, ask for a 40MHz model.

Comes with
painted commander figure and parts for super-detailing including the two turret-top
machine guns. This is an excellent model of the actual tank. Well-built and
beautifully painted, it looks good both on the move and on static display
on a shelf or in a cabinet. It even has twin metal clip-on/removable radio
masts on the turret just like the real thing.
